The 2008 Fiji Swim Festival, held on the weekend of October 17th-19th, was a great success, with swimmers from all over the world taking part in the 5 events.
The action commenced on the Friday with a 'Breakfast with the Champions'. Multiple English Channel swimmer Anne Cleveland from the USA was joined by 2007 Australian 10km champion Kate Brookes-Peterson, her coach (and formidable swimmer himself) John Papuni, and current Australian 10km champion and Beijing 10km Olympian, Melissa Gorman. |

On the Monday morning following the Fiji Ocean Swim, seven swimming adventurers left Plantation Island by speedboat to pick up the fast catamaran, the 'Yasawa Flyer', for a four hour journey through the magnificent Yasawa Island chain to our Swim Safari base at Oarsman's Bay Lodge.

The lodge nestles in a wide sandy bay on the south west coast of Nacula Island, and by early afternoon we had covered our first 2km swim off Oarsman's beach, along a beautiful crescent shaped reef. |
